https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/election-results-and-news-11-03-20/h_6bd4343f7253df9153476928ebaa68cdThe North Carolina State Board of Elections says the board will meet at 1 p.m. ET this afternoon to consider extending hours at four voting locations.
The locations are: one polling place in Guilford County, one polling location in Cabarrus County, and two locations in Sampson County.
An extension of hours at even one of these locations would delay the reporting of results statewide.
Karen Brinson Bell, executive director of the North Carolina State Board of Elections, said one of the reasons the sites opened late was because of poll workers arriving late.

I don't have the answers but FFS, too many human frailties involved, standing in line, machines that are hackable, I could go on...

They had better have a good reason for this.

One of the things I find bad about being a poll worker are the long hours. In some places, they do have the option of two shifts. It should be available in all states. In my opinion it would make it easier to fill those positions as it will increase the pool of those willing to work election day.

"Under state law, the State Board of Elections, by a majority vote, may extend voting hours at a polling place if polls are delayed in opening for more than 15 minutes or are interrupted for more than 15 minutes after opening.
The State Board may extend the closing time by an equal number of minutes."

Bizarre that poll workers showed up late! I think if I were a poll worker, I'd wake up at 4 a.m.
But things happen -- maybe these poll workers have a good reason. Who am I to point fingers, sitting around at home avoiding COVID-19 spores after voting early a few weeks ago.
