Indiana Polls close @ 6pm, keep an eye on the 5th district

Been working the early polls all last week and the general this morning, voted this afternoon in my town of less than 8k which was one of 2 early satellite polling sites in the county. The first time any early satellite sites were opened besides the county seat. The turnout since last Monday has been insanely strong, waits never dipped below an hour, longer at the county seat. Even today when all county precinct sites are open I had to wait 90 min. I've never waited more than 15 min to vote here in the middle of this cornfield in the 10 years I've lived here.

Yes, IN is red as cheap Ripple (right now ) BUT, with IN closing polls earlier than any other state in the eastern time zone it could be a bellwether for some of the battleground districts nationwide, especially the IN 5th from a demographic standpoint. A lot of pollsters are watching it for early signals. IN 5th includes the wealthiest county in IN. It may be a good early gauge of how deep the Dem's can dig into very red wealthy suburbia.
Also watch the the IN 6th, 8th and 9th along the Ohio River. Good early reference for southern OH and SW PA.

The house race has been neck and neck in the 5th between Christina Hale (D) and Victoria Spartz (R) for an open seat and 538 still has it a tossup with limited polling.

Cracker won IN by 13 in 2016 and was up by as much as 15 in August. 538 now has him up by 10 along with Biden gaining 3 points with limited polling.

IN usually releases results very quickly. Fighting to bring back the Bayh days!

I have long since moved away from Indiana, but I went to junior high school with Christina way back in 1983-1985; and I have been a silent, distant, and longtime fan of her career.

Julie Cappy's Notre Dame School 8th grade class of 1985 represent!!!

That sucks for people who have 9 to 5 jobs.

Why do people tolerate such an early closing time?

Guess they figure that covers it. Plus this state still hasn't figured out how to deal with DST since they adopted it lol.

Which leaves more well of white voters able to vote.

That's Indiana for ya. But gosh the folks are so nice, just ask them, they'll be the first to tell you. (A generalization of course, but applies to many, many people there)

I grew up there, not sorry I left over 30 years ago.
