Red is red, but...

I am surprised by my own discomfort right now. I know these expected red states go red, but there is something viscerally gut wrenching watching those red states get colored in and called. I think that deep in my mind/heart I thought, 'surely, very few will vote for this maniac now that they have seen what he has wrought' and to see that is not the case is the same sickening feeling I had after the 2016 results- the sudden realization that i am living amidst a vast number of people I cannot understand - especially in their stupidity and tolerance of hate.
I don't know why it is hitting me like this, maybe I thought all the crazy trumpers I saw was really some kind of minority anomaly. but nope - we still have bright red states. sigh.
