(4,845 posts)1. It was always just MI, WI, and PA.
They couldn't prepare their mail in vote or count them before this morning. The other states can and we have their results.

The majority count their absentee ballots in advance.

PA will likely take several days and WI won't be until at least tomorrow.

Because of how those states process and count their mail in ballots.
Other states get called because they can predict based on numbers that present themselves and knowledge of the counts left in the counties.
