Both bases were motivated this year, its coming down to the middle of the road non-political types and how they voted.

There also seemed to be a myth that 2016 dump voters were going to stay home.

for weeks ahead of time with early voting, and basically signaled to Repubs to get out there on Election Day or they'd lose for sure, so they did.

I have been shouting the same thing all night...then I realize how many people are ok with it because it is mostly brown people from red states or people from blue states.

Seriously...how could anyone want another 4 years of this.

More votes should have meant Biden bigger victory. And you kept reading about how the 18 to 29 vote share was a lot more than it was and people who didn't vote in 2016 heavily-favored Biden. Frustrating to say the least.

He had a much better turn out than I thought possible. I knew that his die hard base would vote but these numbers go beyond them.

8. I agree. It is worrisome. I think people underestimated that Trump voters were fired up

To vote. They actually believe him when he whines about how unfair everything is to him, they think covid is a hoax, they think he is going to fight pedophiles, they were also spurred on by the protests this year ( this must be being pushed on conservative media).

They feel like Trump is pro military, pro police, for religious freedom, for family values etc. ....Barf.....but I literally saw some crazy person with cardboard signs all over their van saying this with Trump 2020 stickers. There is a segment that Trump has awakened and gotten them stirred up to vote. Social media is making this messaging worse.

... white voters than last time, if the CNN exit polls were accurate -- 27% in 2020 vs. 26% in 2016.

They voted for Trump at a lower percentage this time, but still by a large margin at 76% to 23%.

They were 27% of all voters, and white voters were 65% of all voters (higher than their population percentage). So evangelicals comprised about 27/65 = 41.5% of all white voters!

The other white voters gave Biden nearly 60% of their vote!
