Out of everything we've learned tonight

Our disappointment in what should have been a "cakewalk" not being one and disappointment in our fellow citizens, the one thing that I took away from every pundit on every network I tuned into is this (word-for-word):

There's a lot to unpack here.

We are leaning more Fascist than is comfortable now, as are other countries.

The Dunning-Kruger effect and low-information voters combined with onslaughts of propaganda let some people believe that Fascism is patriotic and that the left is their problem, not a deceptive conman who has a proven track record of domination and tyranny.

Last time around, they may not have known who and what he was. This time there is no excuse.

quote in reply to being told he had "all the thinking peoples' votes", "Yes, but I need a majority."?

The vast majority of Americans are too busy living their lives, trying to make ends meets, working a lot, dealing with kids or aging parents, worrying about what happens if someone gets seriously ill, wondering why they can't get ahead. They don't see gov't making a difference in their lives, but they don't connect the policies that hurt them with their vote. Politics is just like an ephemeral cloud that sometimes drops down far enough envelop them for a bit, then goes away.

A huge segment of our population have taken leave of their senses. Combine this with right wing malfeasance and there you go.

We’ll see as the next few days roll on.
