That is mind boggling especially when Trump insults his base at times!

(16,616 posts)And the posts saying "Just be happy Joe won" aren't really soothing my mind.
We have a serious problem in this country, and it's the same problem Europe is having in Hungary and Poland.

(1,568 posts)by a large portion of the population. People cheer on their team and that's the most important thing. We throw around bumper sticker slogans that sound good, but that often times about as deep as the discussion gets. It's rare to observe people having real discussions of policies that go past the surface levels. Often times it's not even a discussion, but a yelling to slogans and talking points which neither party really understands.
I find this to be the case even when discussing topics with people that I agree with. Trying to go deeper to explore different ideas and thoughts, but many people don't want to bother. This is even more difficult when done with the average Trump supporter.

(25,128 posts)How can 59,054,087 people be so DUMB?
This is beyond dumb. Needs a whole new word.

(1,568 posts)I've always tried to be open and listen to different sides in order to understand them, but with Trump supporters, there just isn't much there in terms of substance. Most of the conservative-types I know who I find interesting to discuss things with are not Trump supporters. I have some hope that maybe there are some Trump supporters who are somewhat rational and can give some insight into their thoughts that are not just fear based nonsense that can be addressed by us, but I think those numbers are far too small to matter. It's crazy how many of these unreachable people exist.

(9,085 posts)way they did back in elementary school. They vote for the guy they see as popular not necessarily because hell do good things for them but because hes popular. Years, and sometimes decades later, they still think that way.
In other circumstances I might have fallen into the same trap, but I was a weirdo Who Did Not Play Well With Others and then started having anti-social thoughts like Whats in it for me? and Does he or she walk the walk as well as talk the talk, or does he or she only walk the walk?. If more righties started doing the latter, Republican polling numbers would drop by a fifth every election.

I gave him a few, but most on my list were Melania, Ivanka, Donnie, Jr., Eric, Tiffany and their spouses. That's way off from 66M. I figured his administration sneaked in their votes for Biden with the exception of Kayleigh and Hope Hicks. I wasn't even sure about Roger Stone. Fifty, tops.

Trump's numbers should be down, not up.
Clearly we have a case of vote flipping and I believe there was a blue wave more along the lines of what the polls suggested, but that votes were hacked/flipped in many states.

(2,785 posts)that's true, but there is still a lot of right wing idiots or would be right wing idiots that don't usually vote too. Biden was more votes than any candidate in history. So when Democrats drive up the turnout it drive up turnout for republicans too.

(18,536 posts)about government, history, etc. were amusing, uninformed dolts, and not representative of any large chunk of the country . . . silly me . . . turns out they were representative of about half of the American electorate! . . . who voted as if this were an episode of Celebrity Apprentice, not a presidential election --- and after their guy admitted that he purposely downplayed the most serious public health crisis in our nation's history . . .
it absolutely boggles the mind . . . it's like Trump is a court Jester who's clumsily articulating their very worst instincts, and they don't want his show to end . . . never mind that it will likely see COVID-19 go unchecked until the death toll hits a million or more, and every environmental control is abolished, and global warming continues to wreak havoc via fires and floods and heat waves, etc. . . . and until the United State is the laughing stock of the civilized world . . .
maybe I'll just start drinking again . . .
