Please don't despair.

Biden will win.

But that is not what our anxiety is about.

Our anxiety is due to the fact that we, as a nation, are broken. We've known this for a long time. It didn't just suddenly become apparent last night.

This nation is fucked up like a football bat, and we know in our hearts that a win for VP Biden will not magically reverse our course overnight.

However, it's a start. Things will get better. I'm not sure how much better, but things will improve. It's going to be a long road, but instead of despairing that the election is not a blow out, we should celebrate that fact that when all of the votes are counted, Biden will be victorious. If I am wrong about this, that is the time we should collectively lose our shit. Now is not the time to do that. I think we are in good shape.

I think what is causing us to panic is that it is not settled yet, and we are considering the possibility of a Biden loss, and the ramifications of that. Right now, please consider that the glass is more than half full.

I think Biden will prevail also, and it makes me sick to think that this country is this fucked up that it is even close.

If Moscow Mitch is majority leader again, I really have little to no hope that things will be "good" again in my lifetime. He will block everything, obstruct, make trouble.

Meanwhile, when the consequences of republicon disastrous policy hits (disease, economic ruin) the rightwing propaganda machine will blame Biden. Corporate media will do little to inform the public that it is actually the fault of republicons.

It seems that the main goal of the fascists may have been to keep the senate.

My family has been discussing how many ordinary households trust Fox News. So many times one of us has checked to see how something important is being covered there and find that: #1--it isn't or #2--it isn't reported accurately. Add to that the fact that key Republicans (including Trump) are covered lying constantly.
Many people have been socialized to believe what is in front of them wrapped in all the symbolic images of God and Country and Fox has been designed with that in mind. Social media has come in with a whole new layer (hate radio as well) that reinforces the wrong ideas and images and so the Faux News and Social media dovetail nicely to deliberately mislead ordinary people. It works.
Americans (too many) have had their minds and emotions poisoned.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in, The problem is doing the work that needs to be done with a broken country full of people who have had their hearts and minds poisoned on purpose.

We need to do something to address the elephant in the room.
