I’m surprised it’s not more. Seriously, it’s all rednecks working with livestock or in various extraction industries.

Seriously, if the tech companies could entice 10,000 workers to live in Laramie and a couple of other livable places, things could change fast. Of course, their representation is wildly disproportionate to their size.

I don't believe in throwing out the Electoral College willy nilly (the Law of Unintended Consequences), but we certainly need to do something.

Step 1: eliminate the 2 electoral votes representing senate portion. This means that electoral votes match the number of representatives from that state.

Small states would still have an advantage, just not so blatantly lopsided as it is now.

I ran the numbers:

As it stands now:
Wyoming population: 549,914
electoral votes: 3
population per electoral vote: 183,305

California population: 39,937,500
electoral votes: 55
population per electoral vote: 726,136

As it is now, each resident of Wyoming has 3.96 times the president-choosing power of a resident in California.

After removing 2 electoral votes from each state:
Wyoming population: 549,914
House districts: 1
population per electoral vote: 549,914

California population: 39,937,500
House districts: 53
population per electoral vote: 753,538

If the 2 "senate votes" are removed, each resident of Wyoming will still have 1.37 times the president-choosing power of a resident in California. Complaining about that is just whining.

Cutting it to "only" 1.37x...that's called discrimination and taking away my rights.

We have long past the point in this country where certain groups mistake racial privileges with god given rights.

Maybe second to Idaho?

Wyoming has always been my go-to example of a small ev deep red state.

Based on 2016, I think it was West Virginia, but that might have been a fluke because Trump was pro-coal and Clinton wasn't. Before than Idaho used to be number 1. Utah wasn't far behind either, as was OK.

State demographics change as people move though. NJ has always been Blue, but it has become bright-Blue. Many liberal NYers have moved there. I was very surprised to see that Trump got 43% of the vote there, a huge improvement over 2016.

Been there to see Devil's Tower (worth the journey, very spiritual place). Flying over the state all you see are oil wells and fracking sites, as far as the eye can see. Such a shame to see the wide open spaces carved up. RW white man's greed knows no bounds and in WY will make no laws against his craven addiction for pillage of Mother Earth. She is free for the grabbing boys. Now, you have your answer as to why the place is so RED, so full of assholes.

They like being red so they don't have to pay much for taxes out, but get to reap money from states that do.
