gloomiest in my considerable lifetime. But, should Trump manage to slither this out for himself, it will then be the darkest conceivable.

Yesterday I was in blackout mode with aroma therapy, dim lights, gentle music, and light themed movies. My wonderful son approached me this morning and gently ask if I wanted some good news (he's a mathematician). I snapped "No". No news - nothing. I'm tired of being Charlie Brown and the football. No matter how good the news is, Putin and Putin's puppet will cheat until it's gone. My son then proceeded to hug me and explain the math of it all. And then he said something that soothed me. He said he was confident. He is such realist, that I finally relaxed a little.

I think it's right up there with 2016, which in my opinion was way gloomier than this one.

So was 2004, for that matter.

We tend to forget just how bad the Bush administration was in the face of Trump. 2000 set the stage.

- Dragged on for a month
- It came down to literally 537 votes in one state
- Corrupt SCOTUS got involved
- Then Gore, as VP, had to certify Bush as the winner. And we had to watch the Congressional Black Caucus challenge the results and then zero Democratic Senators would co-sign

The ultimate outcomes, of course, were equally bad. But the process in 2000 was worse.

Any meaningful legislation will continue.
I am sure that we will see the Tea Party 2.0 very soon... this time armed with open carry with a memorial badge of Kyle Rittenhouse on their shoulders.

There was an election in the North during the Civil War. There was an election during the Great Depression.

we can't believe that people were taken in my a con man.

We know that they went in with open eyes and chose hate.

We know that for many of these people, hate is their most cherished value. The one thing they will never forsake.

Makes me gloomy. Makes me angry.

Trump is who and what he is, but now, we're all aware that his supporters are just as evil and not misled in any way.

Because as reprehensible as it was to imagine votes cast for someone like Donald Trump in 2016, the out for them was ignorance. They could use rationale of "let's just see what happens," or "he will grow into the office."

Now, we have concrete proof that he was as bad or worse than what was expected by his doubters. Despite that, even more Americans turned out to vote for him. Those people treated our hopes that this nation could progress toward something better as Julius Caesar was treated on the Ides of March.
