What Trump is doing is incredibly dangerous
We knew all along that he planned to declare victory even when it was not valid. We just hoped that we had a large enough lead that he would be obviously pissing in the wind.
But here we are with a few states representing the margin of victory and he has made the outrageous claims that he is the winner and that the vote counting is illegitimate. It isn't about the validity of his argument or the chance of his success (although we would be foolish to discount what the courts might be willing to do for him) This is incredibly dangerous because we have two sets of people ready to throw down at the drop of a hat. Either way it goes, there will be a danger of violence. If it goes against him, his followers will be ready to declare revolution because they will have been told that he is the righteous winner. If he shows even a whisper of success, the BLM and friends crowd will be in the street also overflowing with righteous anger. Worse case scenario, both are out and clashing with each other. Part of me even believes he wants it this way to set the backdrop for a power move. It looks like we have won this thing but I think it is going to get ugly before it gets fully resolved.

1. And he's surrounded by enablers who encourage him.
Wingers, Q-Anon, Anarchists like Bannon and Miller, his idiot Press Secretary, all afraid to tell him he lost, so they support his claim of victory.
Pathetic. |

2. Exactly. This is why I can't fully get on board with these "Cheer up We Won"
and "Stop pissing and moaning" posts. This isn't exactly so simple.

3. It's why it's crucial he is prosecuted if the USA is saved from his plot
because the only way the country can even BEGIN to heal is for his crimes to be laid bare. In a way perhaps a plea deal in which he admits the lengths of his depravity and deception while ratting out others so he can avoid life in prison could be more valuable. The Great Dictator, a fake and phony in his own words.

5. It's a powder keg...
...and a Biden win will be the spark that ignites it, unfortunately.

7. They were going to be completely unhinged anyway
Whether or not it's a nailbiter win or turned out to be a landslide.

10. I agree with you in general
But what Trump is specifically arguing right now is a match to explosives.
It also has to be considered in the context of his communication to them over the last few months where he has praised their bullying riots and told them to stand-by. He has made the situation much more immediately volatile. |

8. Exactly
Exactly, it's all about creating chaos at this point. He's stoking the flame right now.

9. Trump has been showing his ass
Now he's spreading the cheeks.
He is no longer practicing incrementalism with the ever-increasing bullshit. There is a silver lining here. The full meltdown mode might trigger the fight-or-flight reflex in other Republicans. They have futures in politics in the post-Trump era to think about. |
