He can expect more of the disgusting allegations lobbed at his Son for the next four years from republicans. Hopefully he is not that naive.

For many of us we welcome a new era of bipartisan cooperation and a toning down of the abrasive rhetoric of the past 4 years.

Right Wing news media makes a lot of money on being enemies. The NRA and arms industry makes a lot of money scaring Americans into buying guns using partisan warfare. Right wing politicians get their power through demonizing our side.

As long as these forces are able to brainwash Americans into being our enemies, they will unfortunately be our enemies.

Hooray for ultracapitalist America.

But I'm not ready to sit down and make nice with people* who actively and passionately want nothing but death for me and a lot of my friends.

*I realize that there are a great many Republicans and Republican voters who are not like this, but it's clearly not a deal-breaker for them to include these repugnant people in their party.

- I would never attempt to intimidate people trying to vote. Not with my words, or my body, or a weapon.

They do.

- I would never drive my car into a group of them while they were protesting - sometimes murdering them in the process. Usually injuring them.

They do.

- I would never assume I knew what was best for them and then force them to have an abortion.

But they do make such an assumption and will force me to give birth.

- I don't protest in favor of hate and oppression.

They do.

- I don't deny science and the public good. Bringing harm to themselves and others.

They do.

- I don't attempt to legislate theocracy into being.

They do.

- I don't seek to legalize discrimination - harming my fellow citizens.

They do.

- I would never seek to absolve their marriage or deny them marriage.

They do.

- I don't seek to make them second class citizens.

They do seek to make other people second class citizens.

- I don't shoot up pizza parlors because of some bullshit found on the internet.

They do.

- I don't seek to suppress the votes of Black Americans.

They do.

- I don't cheer and defend police brutality.

They do.

- I don't excuse the murder of black people by the police.

They do.

- I don't seek to destroy the democratic norms and principles that keep America free. That allows us to defend liberty. That allows us to fight for justice.

They do.

These things go far beyond mere differences of opinions. The animosity and the hate it takes to behave as - They do - doesn't say friend to me. It doesn't say fellow citizen. It doesn't speak to simple disagreement. It does say, loud and clear, that they do wish me harm.

But that's just my opinion.

But they, in their sullen resentment and fear claim I am their enemy. Which is sad, but I can't let their personal sorryness mess with my life.
I see where he's coming from, but their actions will dictate my response. I'm willing to hold out my hand if they're willing to put down their hate.

President Biden has found a way to put the animosity toward the GOP and Republicans behind him despite all they have put him and his family through, perhaps we should follow his lead and do the same?

This is the same ego trap Obama fell into. You will NOT make friends with the GOP.

Trump just spent the last four years saying the most horrific things about you, and he is losing by a hair.
