Bidens margin in Michigan has grown to 1.2 points, as he leads 49.8 percent to 48.6 percent, or about 67,000 votes. There will be plenty to dig into once we have more complete returns, but let me share an initial finding about how 2020 compares to 2016, based on some significant counties that have most of their expected vote in.
Crucially, Biden managed to improve on Clintons performance in the major counties around Detroit. For instance, he leads 56 percent to 42 percent in Oakland County, a suburban and affluent area that cast the second-most votes after Wayne County (Detroit), an improvement over Clintons 8-point edge there. Washtenaw County, home to Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan, had gone for Clinton by 41 points in 2016, but Biden leads there by 46 points. And while Biden trails by 8 points in Macomb County, home of the Reagan Democrat, Clinton lost there by 12 points. Biden, however, has a nearly identical lead to Clintons margin in Wayne County (37 points).

Portman and McConnell are among the Republican senators who are making count every vote-style comments that are clearly intended as pushing back against Trump. This is important. These Republicans may be signaling that they will not go along with Trump efforts to stop vote counts, refuse to concede, etc., if it is clear that Biden has won.

(21,738 posts)1. Portman and McConnell no doubt want Trump to be gone.
Trump gives away their game with his big mouth.
They prefer to operate in the shadows.

It'll be interesting to see if this is when we see the fall out from the GOPers that continually supported Trump, even though in the background they had no use for him, but didn't have the guts to publicly say it.

McConnell and Portman comments... that would be a good thing.

One thing you have to say for McConnel is that he knows how to count votes and he knows Trump is finished.
