is because some (R) voters assumed Trump was going to lose and they wanted to put a check on a Biden Administration?
In 1992 when Bill Clinton was elected the Democrats lost a Senate seat and a handful of house races.
I think that was a factor.

(7,627 posts)there was a bigger turnout on both sides. You could still have had vote splitting happening and yet Trump hitting bigger numbers than 2016 because of the higher turnout.

(21,105 posts)Edit to add: I said months ago that while I appreciated those voters who said they couldn't vote for tRump, they would STILL vote for all other repugs on the ticket. It went just as I predicted.

(7,447 posts)it's one thing to vote for Biden, it's another to give Dems complete control. A whole lot of Biden Republicans just weren't down with going quite that far.
