Pretty cool to watch the counting process, especially in such an important city.

And getting us through the finale.

It's going to be a really great day today, they should finish it up today and have a nice, good answer for us.

We got a $10,000,000 grant to supplement the Elections Board budgeted money (plus some CARES Act funds), to get us through this election - including hiring/paying staff (there are 3, 8 hour shifts of them), buying PPE for that staff, purchasing equipment like brand new letter extractors and brand new high-speed scanners, plus buying supplies (like the boxes, paper, stickers, bins, etc), and I expect also to pay for leasing that space in the Convention Center for the operation.

They have been "pre-canvassing" the ballots since November 3rd, 2020 at 7:00 am EST when the polls opened, and have been "canvassing" (counting) 24/7 since the polls closed November 3rd, 2020 after the polls closed at 8:00 pm EST, and the stream has been running that long (I have kept it running on my other laptop through the whole process).

At the moment, that camera is super-zoomed to one small section of that large room in the PA Convention Center (Exhibit Hall F) but the camera occasionally moves around and I grabbed some screenshots of earlier views that show some of the size of the room and setup -

The below pic shows where the media and "observers" are located in the room with respect to the canvassing operation (bottom right corner of the screenshot) -

This is the layout of the first floor of the PA Convention Center where this is taking place and Exhibit Hall F is show to the right-

5. Looks like most of the time is being spent opening and unfolding the ballots for the scanner.

Seems a more efficient method could be developed.

6. This is tedious work, whether in a large city or a small town. It is done by volunteers who

do it for democracy, nothing else. In most places, these volunteers are older folks who have showed up for the task year after year and who have stayed until the job is done. It is quiet work because concentration is necessary and it is dull and repetitive. For some, it means watching their candidate lose, slowly, ballot by counted ballot. They do it for the democracy they love, for nothing else. They are the foot soldiers in the battle to maintain and preserve our free society.
