Arizona's Republican attorney general puts the Sharpie nonsense to bed for good*.
(*No, obviously it'll continue to circulate as an alternative fact for eternity.)

Based on correspondence and conversations with Maricopa County officials, we are now confident that the use of Sharpie markers did not result in disenfranchisement for Arizona voters. We appreciate the countys prompt insight and assurances to address public concerns.

Was this some kind of reference to Trump in the polling places?

That's so easily disproven. They're decompensating.

(36,294 posts)7. The way I understand it, everyone who voted in person used a sharpie
because that's what the manufacturer of the voting machine recommended. Those who voted by mail could use a black pen, blue pen or a sharpie.

(up to 2018 - meaning through the 2016 election) is that we ALWAYS used Sharpies to mark our ballots. That's what was in the voting booths and when I started voting by mail, that's what I always used.
