And that's how Biden has been able to pull thing off. I don't foresee in the future that our party will nominate anyone that calls themselves a Democratic socialist. They may be able to drum up big support in NYC, LA, Seattle, etc, but that's not going to win 270 EV's.
It's pretty obvious that we have to have a candidate that appeals to the Rust Belt states and that also includes drumming up African American voters in their urban cores. Also we need to do better with Latinos and concentrate more on the Latinos in the southwest. Fuck Florida. That's our path from here on out. But any candidate from here on out, HAS to win surburbia too and revolutionary/socialist language won't cut it. Biden wouldn't have won MI and PA without the suburbs breaking for him.

(269 posts)On Prop 15. And would for the next million years. Here in California we have Koch Industries interests sitting on properties they pay virtually no taxes on. And they refuse to log unless they can clearcut. That has to stop.

(40,148 posts)If Sanders or Warren had been the nominee it would have been a wipeout. They have some good ideas, but they wont convince the voters we need to win.
Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden all have two things in common; they all have the face of a moderate and they won.

(509 posts)I think people are fine with Democratic Party policies, but you need that candidate that makes the policies feel good to the soul. You can't go around telling people you're going to change everything about America...at least not out loud.

(509 posts)Warren would've gotten us wiped out. And apparently, even Latinos don't favor such things.
Also, Abolish ICE was another terrible message.

(10,150 posts)Honestly now the field is too tainted because of labeling. It can work in west or new England states. But not rural America.
I hate to say it. But in order to win rural states, you have to run moderate or even conservative Democrats.

(3,282 posts)message for rural voters.
Biden is going to become President because black voters in cities, suburban moderates, and by improving margins in rural counties across the country.
Those are the people we should focus our message to. Honestly, there isn't a lot of difference in the things that urban blacks and rural whites would benefit from, so we need to find a way to get that message across.

install progressive policies. Of course we also have to keep the House. I've said the same on this board many times. Anyone openly embracing socialism and calling themselves democratic socialists have a depth of political knowledge of this country about as deep as a sidewalk puddle.
A political "mullet" is what's neededmoderate in the front and progressive in the back.

(509 posts)Which was the dumbest messaging I've ever heard. No telling how many votes were lost just cause of that one phrase.

They didn't give a shit about raising taxes for those making over 400k.

(9,988 posts)But we absolutely HAVE to get all the white supremacists out of the police force. I don't care how loud the FOP screams, there are LOTS of cops who just have to go.
"A few bad apples" people say, thinking it means there are only a few bad cops. They don't understand what that full saying means. "A few bad apples spoils the barrel." That means, that rot spreads. If you have just a few bad apples in a barrel and you don't do anything about it, before you know it, the whole barrel is infected and has to be thrown out because it's all rotten, and it happens before you notice it.

(7,707 posts)I said it over and over about Joe. Apparently, crooked Donnie thought so, too because he went to great illegal lengths to take him down.

(9,988 posts)Was because he put a left face on moderate policies. He campaigned on a platform of dramatic change (needed after the Bush years) and he brought out young voters in a way not seen for years. I know many people who were disappointed when he turned to be, like, to the right of Nixon on some issues like the environment, but they still voted for him a second time because the alternative was always worse.
Regionalism factors in too, Obama went big in the Rust Belt because he was from Chicago. (Hawaii of course originally, but his home base was Chicago)
I agree about fuck Florida though. If we can take most of the Southwest, and the states in the South that are purple (GA and NC) and hold the traditional West Coast, Northeast, and Great Lakes states, we don't need it.
