2/3 of the house, 2/3 of the senate and 3/4 of states would have to approve. I think we are stuck with this shitty antiquated system for the next 25+ years. The republicans know without the EC they would never have a chance at the presidency. I know the idea was the the tyranny of the majority but thats no excuse in the modern area with internet, social media etc. I figure at this point if your ideas are good, people will elect you. 6 of last 7 we have won definitively. This year we may win by 6 million votes in the popular vote.

BTW its 3/4 of the states, even harder.

(153,122 posts)the EC has long outlived its original purpose, has given us two nitwit presidents in recent history and makes it easier for foreign interference......there is absolutely ZERO reason why any American's vote should count more than the vote of another - NONE

(6,788 posts)Proportional representation first. Then with a kicker that if the proportional winner is not the popular winner then the popular winner gets it. They would love to stick it to the Latte liberals out there.

(15,377 posts)And Texas keeps turning blue, republicans will realize that it will be nigh impossible to win via the EC while winning through the popular vote (based on last several elections) would just be improbable.
