Authorities in Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania and Alaska on Thursday continued to count ballots and wait for others yet to arrive, including those cast by uniformed troops and their families stationed away from their homes.
We anticipate military ballots could play a decisive role in this election given that these ballots are some of the latest to arrive and be counted, said Jack Noland, a researcher at the nonpartisan group Count Every Hero, an initiative of anti-corruption advocacy group RepresentUs.
Scrutiny of ballots that were not counted or received until after Election Day has intensified as Trumps campaign mounted legal challenges in at least three states and the president has attempted to stoke doubts about the validity of continuing vote tallies....

And Im not sure why military votes would be saved until the end. Theyve probably been counted all along but there will be some accepted the next couple days.

(5,170 posts)It is paper ballots-U.S. mail.
Just the transition would be subject to current shipment issues. US carriers have cut back most routes, and the military mail may have to wait military transport, which would be subject to multiple transitions.

(4,845 posts)I don't know if Trump would drive them away enough but I would still think Trump will get more out of their votes.

(5,125 posts)Big Military folk have come out to support Biden and Trump has been disrespectful of the military. So it's complicated, but whoever people vote for ALL the votes should be counted.
Democracy is more important than one election.
EVEN though having one more term of Trump might destroy America, winning by cheating isn't going to make it better, so DEMS do not deny anyone their right to vote.

(5,170 posts)The vast majority are patriots, and well informed.
You will always have some that have been sidelined, but our current military overseas forces are for the most part exemplary patriots.
Especially the overseas military, they are keenly aware of the international viewpoint of the US.

(152 posts)The brass may favor Biden, but many of the enlisted troops still support Trump. I have had this discussion with friends who served and some who continue to serve as officers in the military.

BTW, lost in this discussion is that in most states the majority of these ballots are not likely to be returned anyway, or will be returned after deadlines which are quickly approaching. And often these mentions of overseas ballots include expats who have no connection to the military and would not be likely Trump voters.

(933 posts)Still some vote count in GA, including some military but the military vote has been counted all along, so that number is smaller and still more that 50,000 to count in Philly.
Biden has consistently received more than 80% of the vote.

(4,138 posts)There are 8000-9000 ballots outstanding but thats what hasnt yet been returned. The actual number of these ballots that will come back today to beat the deadline is unknown, but its probably a lot less than the total amount out.

(1,663 posts)Also, the military is disproportionately filled with minorities. Many of the military families in Georgia are people of color. I think the ones in Georgia may tilt Biden.

(19,976 posts)Military is authoritarian and brass have historically leaned right. This time they may not approve of all the chaos, resignations, obvious lies, Russian asset concerns, alienation of allies, dissing NATO, etc.
Enlisted a mixed bag. I heard stories during Bush/Cheney that quite a few far right militia types were signing up but don't know how many or if that has continued.
