Popular vote is good. BUT last time ( 2016 ) the

electors ignored what the people wanted and voted for donny and put our country where it is now. We are relying more on the electoral voters. They are the ones who scare me the most.

They will again in 2020. You don’t have to worry about that.

...about the possibility of a “faithless elector” or two screwing us over. Just 270 seemed like one of the very possible outcomes for a while, but fortunately we’re well on our way to a comfortable margin of safety there.

As much as I hate the EC, it was supposed to function as a safety mechanism in some situations, and should have fulfilled that function in 2016 by rejecting Trump. That wouldn’t have even been an anti-democratic move, since the majority of the population supported Clinton.

But, as the saying goes, “You had one job to do...”.

What they were supposed to do.

There is no reason at this time to expect they will do other than what they are supposed to do, again.

They did exactly what they were supposed to do.

There is not just one slate of electors. Each and every political party puts up their own slate, and it's very rare for there to be "faithless" electors, ones who vote for someone besides who they are supposed to. And faithless electors have never changed the final outcome.

It helps to understand exactly how the system works.

Heck, one of the reasons Kanye West didn't get on at least one ballot was that he did not have an actual slate of real people who'd agreed to be his electors.
