Biden Nearly Doubles Lead In Nevada As More Results Released
Joe Biden expanded his lead over President Trump in Nevada on Friday as thousands of ballots poured in from deep blue parts of the state, bolstering the Democrat’s chances for winning this year’s nail-biter of an election.
Accounting for the latest batch of ballots, Biden holds a 1.7% edge over Trump in Nevada, with about 13% of the results still outstanding, according to tallies from The Associated Press. Before the Friday ballot dump, Biden held a roughly 0.8% lead in the state.
Most of the votes that remain to be tabulated in Nevada were cast by mail in Clark County, which trends overwhelmingly Democratic. Election officials in Nevada said they expected to release another batch of results Friday afternoon.
If he clinches Nevada, Biden will have secured the 270 Electoral College votes needed for election victory, assuming he holds onto his lead in Arizona, a state that some major outlets have held off on calling.
Even without the southwestern states, Biden has several paths to victory at this stage in the race, holding edges over Trump in Pennsylvania and Georgia.
