There would have to be a special election to fill the seat and with losses already in the House I would think they would rather not risk a return to norm for her district. Otherwise I think she would be terrific.

I think he would be a top contender for Speaker if Nancy Pelosi decides to step down in a few years.

Katie Porter flipped her seat, so it's not a given it would stay Democrat. Take the safe route.

Our current AG. He has filed about 100 lawsuits against the trump administration, and won most of them. His appointment would not necessitate any special election, and as a Latino in a state with a majority population, he would be a good fit. Definitely my first choice.
