We are getting close a quarter-million already.

The more cases, the more vectors. Exponential growth.

But now we are going up daily in the 50-60 new cases range.

Yesterday was 65.

Your feeling on this is correct.
Take a look at the first 2 charts at this link.
On the first, you'll see an upward bend in the blue line of total cases. Case load is increasing day to day.
On the second, go to the right side of the date axis, and click the square for 7 day moving average. There's a continuous upward bend in the curve since early October.
It's at least geometric growth. Or, perhaps something like a compound interest curve.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment on Friday reported 5,418 new COVID-19 cases and 79 deaths. The numbers since Wednesday appear to be the highest number of new cases and second-highest number of additional deaths since the KDHE started reporting figures in mid-May on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

That's over half of what we had in illinois, the population here is 4.2x that of Kansas.
At similar rate of infection, they should be around 2,300 cases, if similar to Illinois.
And, our numbers are not good.
