I wonder what the conversations are with his strategist. No major legislation without a house and senate.
No doubt Mcconnell is planning for torpedoing Biden's presidency from day one.

(10,156 posts)Or bring back Howard Dean. We need to adopt the 50 state strategy again. Like it or not. Progressives won't win red states. We have to run moderate or even conservative Democrats to win.

(5,255 posts)We may have a Democratic Senate from 2021-2023. Also, the Senate map in 2022 is highly favorable for Democrats.
Perhaps just take the moment in for right now.

(19,564 posts)Do keep up! We must begin to stress today for an unknown situation 2 years from now!! Yes, it's going to be a rough journey, but must we do their work for them (the GOP) this far out?!
Even before this election is squared away, we MUST be concerned! About an unknown at this moment.
I'm way too exhausted to add a sarcasm tag. Use your own brains, please. Or not, as you choose.

(5,499 posts)Joe was a long time Senator. His presidency might look a lot like Lyndon Johnson's, without the cloud of Vietnam.
He might be able to forge bi-partisan support to pass some important legislation.
Biden is really showing his patience. He is playing a long game. I think he'll do some really important work.

(3,255 posts)The only thing that will work is hardball. That includes fear of losing government funding for the welfare states of the Old South. It seems that a large part of government largess flows there in the form of federal jobs, military bases, flood control and health care. It's time to hit them where it hurts the most, the pocket book. Obama tried being nice and it didn't work very well.

Of course mcturtle is not going to cooperate in any way. We will do what we can in the meantime, which is a lot. Restore and restart agencies, federal offices, join the Paris climate accord, restore our standing with our allies, end every last one of dotards ridiculous EOs.
