Republican Sen. David Perdue and Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff will go to a runoff, after both fell short of a majority in the November vote.
Also, Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Democratic challenger Raphael Warnock.

(19,844 posts)Votes are still being counted. If NC has the rule where the candidate doesn't reach 50% of the votes, then this should be going to a runoff as well.

In It to Win It
(8,231 posts)Our Democrat candidate for president is leading while our Democratic senate candidates aren't. I assume we had a lot of split ticket voters (they didn't like Trump but they're still republican).
We have to drive the kind of turnout we have in this very election to have a decent chance at winning because although Georgia is now competitive, it still leans somewhat republican.
In It to Win It
(8,231 posts)1) Expect them to spend millions, maybe even a record amount
2) We're competitive in Georgia, but it still leans somewhat republican so we need to bring our 'A' game. We need to bring out every possible voter we can bring out. Both sides had a record turnout this year, but Trump drove a lot of that (as much as I hate to say that). Trump won't be that motivating factor anymore.
3) I understand we want to be safe but I think this will require more ground game. More knocking on doors, etc.

(9,670 posts)Let's pause a moment to think about the timing of the runoffs. By then, these state results will have been finalized and Joe Biden will be our 46th President. Trump will be suing everyone and there will be scattered skirmishes around the country as the losers lick their wounds and lash out at us. And then, just days before Biden's inauguration, this seminal set of elections, which may end up determining if we run the table or not. The stakes couldn't be higher. The dollars will continue to pour in from all corners and there's a lot of time between now and then to plan an insurgence.
If Ossoff and/or Warnock win the runoff elections, it could get real ugly down here in the ATL.

Great for the Dems in the race, but talk about shooting oneself in the foot.
