Been wondering about this. I tried looking it up for all states but wasnt successful.
I know that in 1994 Sen. John Warner convinced Marshall Coleman to run and Chuck Robb beat Ollie North 45%-43%.
Is Georgias rule unique to it or do other states have something like that too?

(52,155 posts)rule. NC requires a run off in races where either no candidate has over 50%, or no candidate has over 40% and a 10% margin. And the run off can be declined and often are since this usually happens with primaries. Many of these rules are from the Jim Crow era and were put in to prevent black candidates from winning races.
Jim Crow laws. I shouldve known.

There is a possibility of us winning both but odds are long. Stacy Abrams has to repeat her magic in 2 months if she has energy.
Generally, this rule helps GOP. This year, because of COVID and growth around cities may backfire on GOP.
Trump voters are coming out of wood works in January. Go Stacy..
