Looks like Georgia goes to Biden

from https://www.nytimes.com/live/2020/11/07/us/biden-trump:

Gabriel Sterling, an official with the secretary of state’s office, said that a pool of about 4,200 ballots — most of them absentee ballots — remained to be tallied in four counties: Floyd, Cobb, Cherokee and Gwinnett, where the largest tranche is to be counted and which contains Atlanta suburban communities that have gone from leaning Republican to leaning Democratic in recent years.

The state must also deal with ballots from military and overseas voters, which will be counted if they arrived in the mail before the end of business on Friday and were postmarked by Tuesday.

Biden's lead is 7,248: https://alex.github.io/nyt-2020-election-scraper/battleground-state-changes.html

Total Votes: Biden leads with 2,461,455 votes, Trump trails with 2,454,207 votes.

But sure, call it. It's basically meaningless but if it pisses off Trump and his crew, I'm all for it!

They can run one, but modern day recounts move at most several hundred votes, not even low thousands.

10,000? It's done.

That "explanation" reeks of rationalization. You don't not call races because of possible recounts. You presume the accuracy of the figures you have - even if very close-- until they are proven otherwise.

And if the armed "observers" had been supporting Democratic candidates they would have been reported as poor sports with bad intentions, insurrectionists unable to deal with facts on the ground.

Rich people are the most cowardly.

They might have some provisional ballots left, but those should have been either accepted or rejected yesterday, so how long would it take to count accepted provisional ballots?

As noted on the alex.github link, they're the only state with an "unknown" remaining total of ballots.

That being said, it appears there's not enough remaining even if the baboon-anus got 100% of them, it really should be called.

On the low end! Might even hit 11,000.

Trump would have to take over 66% of 30,000 remaining ballots to make it up. There are not 30,000 remaining ballots.

He'd have to take 75% of 20,000 remaining ballots to simply tie. There are not 20,000 remaining ballots.

Sure, they're in "recount territory," but seriously, when have you ever heard of a recount reversing a 10,000 vote lead? Most modern recounts don't move the vote count in the tens or hundreds. The Florida recount shifted the votes a few hundred here and there.

So, there are not enough ballots out there, and Trump can't pull the needed percentages if there were. No recount in modern history has reversed a 7,000 vote margin, much less the 10,000 that's surely coming.

It is at this point delusional and irresponsible not to call the state. It's a done deal. Biden's won Georgia.

It's a very thin margin of victory, but there are a few good points to note. Now, it may well be that there is a clause in GA's electoral law that requires a recount if the difference in vote tally falls below a certain number.

But...it's icing on the cake, which is the best part. And it's worth remembering that Bush "won" FL in much shadier circumstances and WELL under 1000 votes. 500 and something, as I remember.

And something I mentioned in a thread a few days ago...even losing GA in a razor-thin tally is not a bad thing, in an of itself. Making progress in the Bible Belt!!!

With military votes not counted, I don't see how Georgia can be called for Joe Biden.
There have been some reports that the military isn't happy with Trump but it traditionally
has voted Republican. I guess we'll see where it stands when the final vote is in.
