Congratulations, America! Your long national nightmare is over

Congratulations to the millions of dedicated voters who voted early and to the millions of determined voters who braved the pandemic to wait in line to fight for democracy, exercise their most basic freedoms, bring an end to the madness of this maladministration, and restore democratic values, fairness, civility & the rule of law to the nation.

Congratulations to the poll workers, post office employees, to those who knocked on the doors and made the phone calls to campaign.

And last but certainly not least, Congratulations to all DU'ers who were part of those millions who voted -and to the admin at DU including but not limited to EarlG, Elad, and Omaha Steve who worked so hard to keep the site open and raise contributions for the Biden/Harris campaign - to make democracy happen.

Although as a Canadian north of the border I was not a part of it, I could not be happier for you all.

And though there may be years of hard work ahead to repair the damage done by this excuse for an administration, your long national nightmare is over, America - Well Done!

Biden will be a great President and Harris a great VP.

Cheers from north of the border in balmy Canada, gotta be 5 o'clock somewhere.

To the future!

PTSD flares when you no longer trust the reality you had before the trauma, or your ability to cope with the existential threat. You have a new normal and it can be stressful negotiating the difference, or trusting. Joe especially, will be part therapist and mentor to a scarred nation.

In Canada we had TEN years of a regressive Conservative government, before Trudeau was sworn in in 2015 (no term limits here so first-past-the-post is what gave us a 10 yr tyranny of the minority).

Biden will be the President America needs.

You go from Obama to Biden

You listen in disbelief as others try to tell you what went down in between

I've never felt such relief. This is Day 1 of restoration.

Feels so good to have people from around the world cheering us on. Hope you'll all forgive us for the last four years and that Canada as well as our other allies will be as generous as you are as a private citizen. This has been a nightmare for us but also (I suspect) for people everywhere who treasure democratic principles.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Whoohoo!!!

Those of us in the rest of the world who are in the majority that posses critical thinking skills (there's dumbasses in all nations) know that the majority of Americans never voted for Trump in the first place, and that the majority of Americans are decent, freedom loving people.

Congratulations on having a President once again - you deserve it!

Yes it's going to be a great 4 years with Biden and Harris in charge. One of the first things we need to do is repair our damaged friendship with our Canadian friends.

Thanks for your good wishes and for being patient. Everything is going to be okay.

And once again congrats & well done!

Biden & Trudeau are natural allies (like America and Canada themselves) and already have a very good working relationship.

Trudeau to his credit was careful to try & not let relations between our nations deteriorate beyond disrepair, even with a trump W.H. And Biden is the President America needs to help get the pandemic under control.

Can't wait for the border to reopen and visit the U.S. once again!

Be safe, and time to partay!

I am so happy and relieved that it’s actually a bit overwhelming.

Even sweeter that my state, PA, put Biden over the top!
