When Michelle Obama became First Lady, Laura Bush extended a courtesy

that Michelle Obama could reach out to Laura Bush if she needed advise or help for being the First Lady.

Michelle Obama extended that same courtesy to Melania Trump.

Someone has to be the adult in that semi-co parenting relationship. If Donald’s is gonna be a baby, Melania should extend the courtesy and be gracious... not that Jill Biden needs it.

it’s the courteous thing to do.

It’s not a necessary thing but the traditional and admirable thing.

Similar to a concession speech. Joe Biden doesn’t need Trump to concede. For all I care, whoever is writing it (if anybody) can shove it up Trump’s ass... but conceding is the traditional and admirable thing to do.

gave Malia and Sasha a tour of the White House, showing them their favorite places to play when they were girls visiting their grandfather (per a recent article in Smithsonian magazine): IIRC the Obama girls tried to do the same with Barron.

From the way she was described in "Melania and Me", Mrs. Trump is strictly transactional: unless Jill Biden can do something for her she doesn't give a damn.

I bet Melania could care less what happens in the White House when she is gone.

By the way. Jill worked with Michelle for 8 years. So don't think Jill has any need for Melania.

Her crazy husband is still trying to challenge it in court. Also, Laura's husband didn't lose either, it was after his 8 years. Did Barbara Bush congratulate Hillary after her husband's loss? I can't remember.

I will say that he and Laura were very gracious to the Obamas during the transition and after. I don't expect the same from the Trumps, sadly, though Melania may be more gracious than her husband. She at least had the decency to stay quarantined and keep most of her staff away when she was sick with the coronavirus.

Probably not true but I won't bet against that one dark night she will be flying away alone very soon.

I remember when Michelle worded something awkwardly and they tried to make it sound like was dissing America - when someone ran it by Laura, she wouldn't have it, just shut it down. Laura is decent gal, despite her husband.

Melania is big a fraud as her gold-digging "prize" of a husband. Fuck ALL the Trumps except for Barron, I truly wish him well.

It’s about the tradition and admirable thing to do like the incoming President meeting the outgoing President at the White House on Inauguration Day. They do it for the tradition of passing the forth and symbolizing a transfer of power not just for them, but for the country.
