(18,672 posts)They are vacationing during a pandemic, assholes. After this pandemic is under control with a vaccine, liberals are going to book the shit out of hotels and resorts in blue states and cities.

(64,993 posts)Now, I wasn't vacationing, but when I went to provide technical support to customers, if it was not worth flying, I'd toss doggie in car & drive.
Most Days Inns are pet friendly with no extra charge.
Now, I could get a room for an extra day, so the last one I was there, I had a place for puppy all day.
I found them clean & had enough amenities. I could stream my cable channels on the laptop, doggie up on the bed,...
Then coffee & toast in the morning.
Enough for us!

(31,261 posts)equivalent. I found the places to be safe, clean and comfortable and quiet at night. So I see where you are coming from, when most business people travel, they look for the most convenient hotels to where their business is, and if they are eating out each night and for lunch, having a restaurant at the hotel is not an attraction.

(64,993 posts)We had a corporate deal, so Hilton, Hampton Inn, Double Tree, Homewood Suites, mostly.
As somebody who held >20,000 shares of stock, I considered it a personal investment to stay in the most economical brand, where possible.
Lower expenses, means better profit, which means bigger retirement pile.
Now, my work made the company an extra $5-6 million a year, so I may have gone overboard! LOL!

(3,261 posts)The number of international visitors who will (once President Biden guides us through the end of the pandemic) now want to visit this country again will more than make up for this "loss."

(17,862 posts)normally blow right through it to get to Florida to see my mom. My next major tourist dollars will be spent in Georgia. I always wanted to go to the Atlanta Aquarium. Hit Six Flags Over Georgia as well. Take in Savanah as well. I haven't heard much about the zoo, but I plan to take that in as well.
I have probably been no more than five miles away from the interstate (except around Chattanooga to see the Civil War battlefields).

There must be lots of fun stuff to do in Tornado Alley and the surrounding ed states. Maybe car racing, plenty of sports stadiums, campgrounds, RV parks with fishing hole, Country Music theater, hunting lodges, mega churches, Trump rallies on every corner. Sounds like lots of fun.
