(4,828 posts)Jaime Harrison, Amy McGrath and other great candidates raised record amounts of cash - at one point, Amy even stopped fundraising. She had more than enough.
There is only so much advertising available, and it has diminishing returns. More is not necessarily more effective.
We need to rethink the money bomb approach. We have shown that we can raise much more than can be realistically spent. Then where does it go?
We opposed Citizen's United for the corrupting influence of excessive money in politics. Now we are doing it. Is there another way to help without becoming another money-in-politics juggernaut?

(1,803 posts)and build a foundation for the future. I heard somewhere that if you get people to vote like 3 times in a row...they become lifelong voters.
That is a worthy investment.

If the ground game involves providing good long-term employment for people to organize, I'd be all for it. But at some point, we need transparency about how so much money is being spent that we don't invite corruption. That would kill the movement.
I used to be a fundraiser for nonprofits. Even the most idealistic folks can go into a ditch when there is unlimited money and no accountability. I haven't seen a model for that yet in progressive politics. We need it.
