1/3 One of the things that happens in the background during a presidential transition is that Biden will send a team inside virtually every federal agency with the job of reviewing the agency (including its personnel) from top to bottom.

Replying to @abfrancois
2/3 One goal is to recommend people to various posts (not the top folks who make the news but folks below that level who get the daily work done.) Another is to do damage assessment (what broke/ what needs to be fixed).

3/3 So first, Biden will find out these agencies are more broken than we thought. Second, there’s going to be a lot of burrowing in by Trump people: Trump political appointees, who would otherwise have to resign, switching to civil service positions so they can’t be fired.

I wondered at the time why not wait until after the election to do that.

Biden should use the chance to get rid of tRump nutbags, and the lingering BushCo moles. Then restore the protections.

political appointees and who try to weasel their way into the regular civil service, this is the way to go, methinks.

Didn't Trump just sign one that said federal employees can be fired at will in order to stack the agencies with Trump lackeys?

W did that, left lingerers in civil service jobs who ended up being willing accomplices in the dismantling during the current regime. A deep cleaning has to take place, these people are as dangerous as the infiltrators who start fires during a peaceful protest. They need to be identified and relieved of duty.
