Except for two republicans in congress congratulating Biden/Harris, the congressional republicans have been very quiet
If the congressional republicans continue to remain silent on this, we are going into a very dangerous situation, and I think the House has to seriously consider impeaching him for trying attempt government takeover

(25,428 posts)Sorry, but that's laughable. The election is over and there's nothing Trump and his minions can do about it.
"I think the House has to seriously consider impeaching him for trying attempt government takeover"
That's hilarious. You want to impeach him in the two months he has left so he can be acquitted and brag about it?

(25,428 posts)He's talking out his ass. You seriously don't get that?
What's next -- you're going to tell us all that we have to be worried that our 75 million votes are illegal 'cause Trump says so?

Try a little compassion and understanding!

(4,612 posts)conflict we'll just reset our Constitution in a way that is FAR more fair to populated areas and takes all of their Electoral College and Senate advantages away from them.
If they can't win with the Constitutional headstart they're already being given, they can go fuck themselves.

(13,909 posts)as are most Repubs in Congress. But Trump will not be handed a victory by the courts. If he puts up a fight on Jan 21st, which he wont, Biden can get Secret Service or US Marshalls to frog march him outta there.

(32,705 posts)He was paying to have ppl bused in. Are ppl going to be willing to do that? He doesnt have any money to pay them. The rnc and other big donors that were financially propping him up in the final days of the campaign arent going to. There will be no infrastructure to organize his rallies. He and his ilk arent going to.
Small rallies that were springing up yesterday have already dwindled to a few dozen at the most

(25,428 posts)It's probably the worst idea I've seen posted on DU in months, especially right now. You seriously want to waste the next two months on a completely meaningless exercise that Trump will broadcast as vindication when we should be working on a transition?
Sorry, but that's simply ridiculous.

(23,331 posts)I said it should be kept in mind. To elaborate: only if Trump takes actions further actions that would effectively constitute a coup attempt- Not merely holding rallies and the like.

(14,852 posts)I hope Democrats don't bother engaging them in the streets. Let them hold their tantrums and don't give them what they want, a pointless conflict.

(4,607 posts)There is honesty in a coup; the conspirators openly, or at least tacitly, acknowledge what they've done is extra-constitutional and undemocratic. Sometimes they'll justify it as an emergency action necessary to save the people; sometimes they won't bother justifying it beyond the principle of might makes right.
What Trump and his death cult party are doing are coordinating to convince nearly 50% of the country that the foundational structure of American democracy is illegitimate if it doesn't give them what they want.
That's not a coup. That's a civil war.

(8,749 posts)Most, that is. There are several who don't, McConnell for example. The "base" has never been a threat or controlling circumstance to him personally or professionally. He sees them as useful idiots and uses them as such.
Other GOP senators? Ones who might face a primary challenge in 2022 or 2024? They're cowering at home right now.
