As always he accuses his opposition of his own crimes.
People call it projection but it's not.
It's a calculated gimmicky technique he always uses to try and cover the fact that he is commiting a crime.
And it works every time because everyone spends their time talking about how they aren't committing the crime instead of accusing him of the very same crime he is committing in open daylight.
It sounds petty to accuse Trukp of the thing he is accusing you of but it's always the truth.

If you want them to use the word "steal" it could be another two years.
They are playing him to be the fool on his own hill. It is a potent message.
His attempts to steal the election are analogous to trying to rob a bank with a note and a finger gun in one's pocket.
But, winning the election is not actually what he's trying to do. He's trying to create chaos by sowing doubt in the minds of the 70 million who voted for him.
BigOleDummy
(2,260 posts)Indeed he IS trying to sow chaos, but to what end? To steal the election. Does anyone seriously doubt that he has a declaration of martial law sitting in the top drawer of the resolute desk? Once he whips up his cult and their fellow travelers into a frenzy and they start running wild in the streets KILLING people.... there's his excuse.
Yeah, I'm a bit gloomy this morning I must admit, just read that the GAO is denying President Bidens transition team access to office space etc.

Top republican leaders are quiet about this power grab. Some are openly calling for the states to declare their electors for trump NO MATTER what the voters said. Silence about his lies and naked attempts to, yes as the OP said STEAL, this election are deafening.
I'm old and dying and won't see another presidential election, if we have any more, but I'll be out in the streets when the time comes. I think more of us need to start entertaining thoughts of just WHAT we will do if and when that times comes. I'm a veteran and I swore to uphold the Constitution and that oath had no expiration date.

(5,591 posts)the diversion and deflection.
Those who have a voice/power arent using it against him effectively. Never have. NO accountability for anything ever, in his life.
They all see what he is doing. We all see what he is doing.
But nothing EVER comes of it. It is absolutely demoralizing how he clearly and openly uses and punks and plays the rest of the world/people/laws.
I will never understand how it is always talk talk talk about what he is doing, and no action against him.
He wont stop. Why should he?

(5,121 posts)Hilary got the POPULAR vote, that is true. But because of the 3rd party, he was able to nab the 270 ELECTORAL VOTES first without a 50% majority.
THIS TIME JOE HAS THE ELECTORAL VOTES and DUMP is out of luck.

(9,760 posts)But it's not surprising. After all, it's taken most of the MSM more than 4 years just to plainly call his lies lies. Many still don't.
I think in this case, they don't even take it seriously because they believe there's no chance he's going to get away with it. They're just laughing at him.
I'm still not entirely confident he won't manage to steal it. But, even we were all 100% sure, the fact that he's trying, and the gravity of that, should be front page news.

It always works like this.
Instead if everyone attacked, calling out that Trump is stealing the election, the tables could be turned , but they never do. They always play the game the way Trump wants it played.

(5,121 posts)Like, in case after case, it is PROVED that election fraud is minuscule, but TRUMP believes SO COMPLETELY that widespread fraud exists, WHY are his people doing it? Is that what he knows?
Everyone knows he has a screw loose and his followers are in his pocket looking for the nut to put him back together.
So we could at least make the conversation about how crazy he is to ignore facts, but maybe he knows about corruption in his own party and is trying to get caught.
That would be a way to change the conversation without having to bring any proof forward.
His obsession with fraud HAS to be paranoia or inside knowledge that HIS people are planting it, because there is not enough fraud to be concerned with unless he knows that his people are planting it.

(5,121 posts)There isn't any proof that the tampered items he is pointing out were planted by his people, though that could very well be true.
His supporters are creating FAKE election fraud videos, but it can't exactly be traced back to him.
He is benefiting from the chaos and using misdirection very well, but the election process is going on as accurately as possible considering the situation.
He is DEFINITELY attempting to dis-enfranchise as many DEM votes as possible, but he's still using "legal" means to do so personally while inciting his base to do worse.
AND being that DEMS don't file frivolous lawsuits to make a point, if we don't have the PROOF that he is crossing the line, we just don't go there. It isn't worth the time and energy unless there is a way to prove it's true.
Otherwise it sounds like 4 year olds fighting. "Uh uh. You did it!" "I did not. You did." "Liar" "You're lying" "Mommy"
You know? Why stoop to his level when there is real work to do?

He is actively trying to overthrow our government and anoint himself as dictator.
And the Republican party is conspiring to assist him.
TigressDem
(5,121 posts)I do think a lot of the Republican party is moving away from him at this point, not wanting to be dragged down in the undertow when he gets sucked under.
His crazy base? They are potentially going to start a civil war, but I think we will find strange allies in folks that don't want HIM as their dictator. They may want their party in control, but HIM? He's served his purpose and is being shown the door, even by his own people.
TigressDem
(5,121 posts)Dump being dictator wouldn't be any more fun for the rethugs - maybe even less fun as they are closer to the smell of his corruption - than it is for US. Tying themselves to HIM if he is likely to lose, makes them losers too.
Their support for him has some limits, mostly self preservation type limits. But there is splintering in their "support" of him that only goes so far. They aren't the types to fall on their sword to save him. If he goes down, he's on his own.

The reality is, given the fact that the statisticians have come to a conclusion at this stage, I think we get behind the new president, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), who opposed Trumps reelection and was the only Republican who voted to convict him in the Senates impeachment trial, said on CNNs State of the Union.
Former President George W. Bush, a longtime member of the GOP establishment, also said on Sunday that he had spoken with both Biden and Harris to congratulate them on their victory.
McConnel is only saying LET EVERY VOTE BE COUNTED
The Kentucky Republican tweeted Friday that every legal vote should be counted, but refused to go beyond his statement at a news conference that day.
Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), appearing on CBS Face the Nation, said the Trump campaigns allegations should be adjudicated but declined to adopt the more aggressive posture of the presidents allies.

Remember, McConnell knew Trump was flat out guilty during the impeachment trial, yet led the Senate to fail to convict him.

(5,121 posts)McConnell may be all that you say, but he IS stopping short of throwing HIMSELF under the bus for tRump at this point.
He says, "Count ALL the votes," which is simply realistic, and out of step with tRump, "Only count votes for ME"
They are as afraid of him or more than we are and possibly afraid the "psycho" will wear off on them and ruin their own careers.

(2,000 posts)Projection is an unconscious psychological mechanism designed to ward off anxiety by making its cause external to the person. Projection occurs outside of conscious awareness, but with Trump, these "projective" statements and actions are very conscious and are totally intentional manipulations. So as you point out, Kablooie, it's much more accurate to call them crimes rather than projections.

Our news media is dominated by corporations. They are not interesting in truly informing anyone, just in keeping viewers "hooked" for their ratings.
This is why I don't watch any of them live any more. It has been this way for me for a LONG time.
Not viewing them also helps to keeps my sanity still hanging onto the thin thread it's been grasping for years.

(20,864 posts)whether it has to be unconscious and not conscious, but when a mentally ill person projects, does it really matter whether it's unconscious or conscious? I see no reason why projection can't also be criminal, it most certainly fits the definition of lying. If Trump were to go to court and when asked questions he uses projection, whether they be unconscious or conscious, he would still be committing perjury would he not? The fault with allowing trump to project, lies with everyone who knows better and aids his projection instead of calling it out for what it is, lying.
