https://www.rawstory.com/2020/11/watch-pro-trump-stop-the-steal-protesters-baffled-when-shown-theyve-been-suckered-by-the-president/In a CNN piece on the Stop the Steal movement made up of Donald Trump supporters who believe the election is being stolen, fans of the president were either baffled or dismissive when presented with evidence that they were regurgitating baseless conspiracy theories.
In the clip, filmed at a Stop the Steal protest in Pennsylvania, CNNs Donie OSullivan pressed supporters of the president on why they believe the election is being stolen that led one woman to tell him, Go, I dont even want to talk to you! when he disagreed with her.

Discussing a video that went viral which showed sample ballots being destroyed, Melissa refused to believe election officials who confirmed the clip was being misrepresented on social media, telling OSullivan they are lying, But wouldnt they, though? Thats the thing question everything, right?
Another man, who was not identified, admitted, Me, Im very thorough with the information I look at. I have my opinions obviously, but Im not just going to go around retweeting blatantly false information or things I believe that are I look at things that are suspicious.

(12,712 posts)Question everything falls apart logically for me because you would then question questioning everything since it is an all-inclusive phrase.
It's like: How do we know that anything at all is true?
Well, how do you know that the words you string together to say that have any meaning or validity at all? I mean, be thorough here
When people go there, that's the end of the discussion for me. It is a dip into the snuff can of absurdity. Even Buddhism has what is called "valid cognition".

(5,810 posts)Came up and bit them on the ass. They have a mindset and search until they find something to match it. tRump and his henchmen are only so happy to supply them with evidence. It will take lots of deprogrammers and psychologists to help these people out of their quicksand of delusion.

(10,570 posts)fantastic reporting.
Some of them say things that make sense, but the way they apply that information is bizarre. Interesting how many of them say that they get their info from numerous sources and they question everything before accepting it. Its almost like they accept something first and then find a narrative to confirm it.

(she said that social media is driving the divisions by feeding people only viewpoints that they want to hear)
the rest of the video was so depressing
these fuckers are completely snapped off from the truth
are so undereducated, lack even basic critical thinking skills
and someday, many may violently rebel, given the right inputs to trigger them to kinetic action

(6,900 posts)includes the "question everything" unthinking garbage. I thought you might enjoy this link about a "question everything" conference.

Alas, I don't want to travel, so have to make do with the History Channel. The 2-hour season premier of "The Curse of Oak Island" is tomorrow night.

(672 posts)Tracing back John Dewey (1910), the goal of critical thinking is to have a coherent approach to examining a belief or fact with careful consideration of the evidence that supports it. It does not mean that you question everything and it certainly doesn't mean that you accept whatever you are being told by one side while ignoring all other sources of information. In many ways, critical thinking is related to scientific reasoning and approaches to medical diagnostics.
Internationally, American education has been praised for emphasizing thinking. There are still countries in which education involves the passive accumulative of information for regurgitation on high stakes tests. There is a whole industry of cram schools to help these students prepare for these kinds of tests.

Too much logic chopping on words leads to Qanon type stuff.
