Nevada Election Results: the 3,000 Challenged Votes (military families)

LAS VEGAS—When Trump campaign attorneys released a list of 3,000 people who they said voted in Nevada after moving to another state, they said it was evidence of voter fraud in a closely contested battleground state. Military families and Nevada elections officials point to something else: Service members who have legally voted in Nevada after being transferred elsewhere.

(snip)

Trump campaign attorneys sent U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr a letter Thursday alleging “criminal voter fraud” in Nevada and asking for an investigation. It sent Mr. Barr a list of unnamed individuals who “appear to have improperly cast mail ballots” in Nevada after moving elsewhere, according to a search of what it called a change-of-address database. The publicly released list gave ZIP Codes of where the voters currently and previously lived, but no other personally identifying information or dates of moves.

A few hundred of the 3,062 voters appear to be connected with the military, either because the new ZIP Code was on a military base, or because it was located in a place with active military presence, according to military families and personnel and the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada.

Nevada residents are eligible to vote in some instances if they are out of state during an election, including if they are a student, member of the military or military spouse, or working elsewhere with intentions to return to the state, state election officials said. The Trump campaign’s accusations of voter fraud have angered some military personnel and their families.

“It’s shocking that the Trump campaign would call these military members criminals for exercising their right to vote,” said Amy Rose, who said she found what appears to be herself and her husband, an Air Force major, on the list by matching up the ZIP Codes of where they lived in Nevada and where they now live in Northern California. Ms. Rose, an attorney who works with veterans, and her husband kept their Nevada voter registrations when the Air Force transferred him to the Defense Innovation Unit in Silicon Valley, she said. She said she and her husband—a flight-test engineer—still considered Nevada home.

(snip)

Nevada election officials and voting-rights advocates in the state pushed back against the notion of election fraud. “It’s not out of the ordinary at all for somebody not to live here, but be eligible to vote here,” said Joe Gloria, Clark County’s nonpartisan registrar of voters.

They made the challenge when the difference was 8,000 votes. They are clutching at straws and acting very whiney.

The active military (as opposed to the National Guard) cannot generally be used to enforce domestic law. That's what got Esper fired. He resisted sending troops into the streets to quash BLM protests.

We really don't want the military involved. President-Elect Biden is correct. The Secret Service is perfectly capable of evicting a trespasser from the White House.

Right now he's up +2.7 with the outstanding ballots mostly from Dem areas (Clark County/Las Vegas).

NV is a light blue state - margin would be bigger if not for the pandemic and the inability to really mobilize the labor unions etc.
