https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/09/politics/deborah-birx-biden-coronavirus/index.htmlWashington (CNN)Dr. Deborah Birx has privately told colleagues she has not yet been contacted by anyone on President-elect Joe Biden's team, and whether she will be staying on as a government employee in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic remains up in the air.
While not publicly commenting on what her future plans could entail, Birx has privately expressed interest in keeping her current role as coordinator of the White House coronavirus task force, or a similar position within a Biden-led government.
On Monday morning, Biden announced members of his new coronavirus task force and outlined his plans to combat the virus as case counts continue to balloon across the United States. Despite the challenges of a foreboding winter season, and what promises to be a complicated presidential transition, Birx has indicated to friends she has no desire to give up her career as a public servant and enter the corporate world, which could certainly be an option.
Neither the White House or the Biden campaign immediately responded to CNN's request for comment. (continues...)
Let's hope not.

(17,862 posts)Birx explained that President Trump has been mindful of the details that continue to come in about the COVID-19.
"He has been so attentive to the details and the data and his ability to analyze and integrate data has been a real benefit during these discussions about medical issues," she added.

If she is a political appointee, she better have her stuff cleared out by Jan. 20th. She is being escorted out of the building.

(7,835 posts)Birx was one of those people who, for more casual observers, might be inclined to think that she was like Fauci. Absolutely not. Early on, when push came to shove, she rolled right over for Trump. It sounds like she has pushed back a wee bit in recent months, but too little, too late, girlfriend. You may have felt like you were trapped between a rock and a hard place, and I can maybe somewhat empathize with you, but you weren't exactly a lesson in courage throughout all of this.

(14,061 posts)But I did wonder why Fauci wasnt on the list. Did some searching, and apparently it isnt proper for a president-elect to name people who are already on a presidential commission. But it sounds like Biden will be consulting him, as he should.
Fauci is the only expert I really trust on this right now.

We should forget all that, because now she really understands how the virus works, and she promises to do better next time.

We do need somebody who can convince 70 million mouth-breathers to cover their mouths (and noses).
Maybe Dr. Atlas can be installed as a puppet. MAGA supporters feel they can trust Dr. Atlas. He may not be a Kool-Aid drinker, I suspect he's just an MD for hire. We can get him at a cut rate right now.

(19,356 posts)Many of you seem to have a good point. I did see her equivocate a number of times and show a deference to Trump that he wasn't close to deserving, but I saw her frustration and her answers in new conferences that followed Trump's dissemblances, deceptions, and blatant lies were never as critical of the President's statement I would have liked, but she always managed to tell the truth without calling out Trump's criminal stupidity.
When she realized she wasn't effective in the WH conferences, she went state-to-state and tried to educate different localities about the dangers of the virus and the ways to avoid getting it and spreading it. At least that's what I read. I'm sure it would have been much easier to stay in D.C. and be news conference wall-paper, but she was so disturbed she took it on herself go on this mission.
I'm not saying Biden should feel an obligation to keep her, and certainly not in her previous role, but I think the woman and her actions are more difficult to evaluate morally than we have done here.
