If I heard the CNN theme without the breaking news graphic, I'm not sure I would recognize it.
I know the Trump years are eventful. But do we really need a breaking news banner this often?
One day there really is going to be breaking news and nobody will notice. Their breaking news theme has become the car alarm going off in the mall parking lot.

(38,958 posts)and avoid the 24/7 Breaking Noise Infotainment Cable Channels. Their job is to fill airtime between ads for drugs we never knew we needed. Sometimes they brush up against journalism in doing so, but it is mostly just blather.

(4,600 posts)were only used for items like, "Kennedy Shot In Dallas" or "Men Walk On Moon". Now the "Breaking News" chyrons are basically flashing 24/7 and for even the most mundane events and stories.
