Trump got a bigger percentage of white female and black male votes in 2020 than in 2016.
I just dont get that.
Even with a black female on the ballot, the Dems do worse with white women and black men.
Can anyone offer any reasons why?

(29,193 posts)may have been convinced by the summer of unrest in Portland and other cities and the right wing "jobs not mobs" commercials... and yes, the "defund the police" slogan.
I have no idea about black men...

(464 posts)Neither do my other senior, college educated female friends. None of us get it. I'm more afraid of the white nut jobs with guns.

(1,040 posts)But the white female Evangelical vote is huge. No matter how I tried, I could not convince those I knew that Trump was a worse candidate. They were, in most cases, one-issue voters. Abortion. Even though I proved that abortion numbers go down in Democrat administrations, and that Trump's morals probably added to the # of abortions, it didn't matter. He had a big fat "R" after his name so he was the choice.

(210 posts)In 2016, Trumps best demographic was white males, especially the non-college types. Maybe there just werent that many left? For example, if you already have 75% of a group, its harder to increase than if you had only 10%. In one instance, if you get another 10% its only a 13% increase, but in the other instance, if you get another 10% its a 100% gain. Apart from the distribution of relative gains among the various demographic groups, I too find it mind boggling that Trump could get more total votes in 2020 than in 2016, after four years of cruel, venal, and psychopathic incompetence.

I'll see what I can find of his analysis if it's available.
