Despite lack of evidence, GOP forms ranks around Trump

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Republicans on Monday backed President Trump’s efforts to contest his loss to President-elect Joe Biden, despite the lack of evidence of significant fraud and sharp rebukes from election officials who defended the integrity of the vote.

McConnell (R-Ky.) said from the floor of the Senate that the president is “100 percent within his right” to pursue recounts and litigation. McConnell did not repeat Trump’s baseless assertions that fraud had cost him the election, but he said he had met with Attorney General William P. Barr earlier in the day and supports the president’s right to investigate all claims of wrongdoing.

Keeping the racist, ignorant rank and file deplorables mad about the election will make them more likely to turn out in January to vote for the two insider trading Republicans on the ballot in Georgia. Were it not for that double run-off election, DC Republicans would have abandoned the orange piece of shit.

I really think they do.

They could be right.
It's impossible, I know, but that's what we said about every damn horror Trump has pushed through.

his cultists, without which, they cannot win. The problem with this thinking is that whatever hold Trump has on these voters, it's not transferable to "not Trump" even if "not Trump" espouses exactly the same rhetoric and policy.

In Dickens' novel "Our Mutual Friend", there's a scene where the villian and the school master fight and fall into the river. The school master embraces the villian tightly and they both drown, but the heroine is saved. That's how I see the relationship between between Rs and Trump, both in a death embrace with neither planning to release the other.
