Ohio hospital leaders warn staffing shortages due to covid infection could mean people/not treated

Ohio hospital leaders warn staffing shortages due to coronavirus infection could mean some people don’t get treated

COLUMBUS, Ohio – At this point, Ohio hospital leaders aren’t worried about having enough beds to accommodate the latest coronavirus surge.

They believe there is enough personal protective equipment, ventilators and drugs such as Remdesivir.

It’s having an adequate number of staff that they say is the concern.

Hospital staff members have become sick during the current surge of COVID-19. They’re catching it in the communities where they live, which led the hospital leaders at a briefing Monday to emphasize mask-wearing, handwashing, socially distancing and keeping gatherings small.
