(31,109 posts)the traitors, the GOP when they go full on board with a coup, which they seem to be doing now.
If they force us to defend our country it will be known to all that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris handily won this election both the vote and ec.

(11,008 posts)Because it was around 90K yesterday, 120K the day before, 140K the day before that...
But keep criticizing how the DEMOCRATIC Secretary of State is doing her job in the midst of armed protesters outside where the votes are being counted.

(16,369 posts)Sorry not sorry that is so upsetting for you.

(1,351 posts)Who said anything about criticizing the SOS? Ive seen similar news reports where it seems they keep reporting the same number, or sometimes it even goes up! I remember saying to my husband a couple of days ago wait, yesterday they said there were 100K outstanding and now they say 200k?. But I never blamed AZ for that, I assumed it was the news agencies bungling the count.
I cant speak for anyone else but the frustration with the slow pace doesnt automatically equate to criticizing the SOS. Im grateful they are being careful, but the wait is agonizing. That doesnt mean the wait is anyones FAULT.

(1,351 posts)I didnt realize that. Comforting to know. I dont trust some of the Republican SOS.

(16,369 posts)Arizonans are VERY SENSITIVE about how SLOWLY they count votes there.

(11,008 posts)Are you complaining about them?
Is there a reason you are so upset that Arizona is still going?
Mostly Im sensitive about people who dont know whats going on complaining.

(16,369 posts)But theres something different about New York and California relative to Arizona that I cant quite put my finger on....
Oh wait...Theres literally a combined 50 MILLION MORE PEOPLE in those states than reside in AZ.

(11,008 posts)Anyone who pays attention to the state could've told you that Biden won it last Weds. But keep complaining, I'm sure that Sec. Hobbs cares about what internet rando has to say about the job she's doing, what between counting the votes, curing the provisional ballots and fending off frivolous lawsuits about Sharpies.

In any event, I hope she has more articulate folks speaking on her behalf than what Ive seen here.

(11,008 posts)States don't make the call. Anyone who follows Arizona politics has known what the results would be since Wednesday.
And that it would take a week or so to complete the count.
PTWB
(4,131 posts)I would think each state would have a number of counters that is commensurate with their voting population. Maybe AZ doesnt have enough. That could be why the state is moving so slowly relative to others with similar populations.

(31,261 posts)Joe and Kamala moving ahead to lead the country out of the mess Trump has it in. But, that is no reason to write things that are borderline insulting.
I am confident that Trump cant win Arizona, given the counties that have the vast majority of the votes left to count. So I am in the stay calm and let the process work camp.

(1,235 posts)as the polls closed. Arizona is a swing state and should be more responsible in this count. There is no reason to take over a week to count some votes. Mail ballots is their norm.

(11,008 posts)Despite what some news organizations think.
Why the sudden "WHY HASN'T ARIZONA FINISHED COUNTING!!!!"
And when detailed reasons are provided, "THEY SAID THAT YESTERDAY! AND IT'LL BE EXACTLY THE SAME TOMORROW."
I'm just curious why certain posters are so invested in this idea that Arizona is fucking around. Yet they aren't complaining about other states.

(2,177 posts)race is over, he doesn't need GA and PA, so there is no excuse for stonewalling from the GOP.

(1,351 posts)In AZ the margin requiring a recount is razor slim. Recounts above that slim margin CANNOT be requested. So Id say they are being d*mm careful about making sure every vote is counted correctly.

(12,620 posts)because I posted about it.
They really are very careful. One year they called because they noticed my DHs signature had changed. I told them he had Parkinsons, and they said o.k.. When he died they didnt send his automatic ballot ever again, though I hadnt notified them

(2,748 posts)Maybe they didnt run any through the machine. It takes time make the right decision about whether or not to include a ballot or not.

i must say, however, that AK is making AZ look lightning fast.

(8,203 posts)with a totally broad brush..as ATT was downsizing in '98 many of us transferred from everywhere to AZ - a 900 employee facility, soon became a 2000 employee facility -
Coming in from Mass..I found myself constantly asking for an attitude adjustment for myself..I had a hard time downshifting to slow or reverse in the work force..seemed as though everyone was on vacation everyday...
This does not surprise me one bit!!!!!

(11,008 posts)He makes his margins on the small red rural counties, and comes close in Pinal. But Maricopa and Pima, even if he wins, he's still not making the 60% margin he needs.

Arizona recounts:
A. A recount of the vote is required when the canvass of returns in a primary or general election shows that the margin between the two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes for a particular office, or between the number of votes cast for and against initiated or referred measures or proposals to amend the Constitution of Arizona, is less than or equal to the lesser of the following:
1. One-tenth of one per cent of the number of votes cast for both such candidates or upon such measures or proposals.
2. Two hundred votes in the case of an office to be filled by state electors and for which the total number of votes cast is more than twenty-five thousand.
Requested recount procedures
Arizona does not allow requested recounts.

What's left to count
Counting ballots in Arizona typically takes many days, partly because so many voters use early ballots. These can be returned up until the end of Election Day, but those late-arriving ballots must be verified and then counted in the days that follow.
Now, though, most early ballots have been counted. More than half the ballots that remain are provisional ballots, which are given to voters who can't verify their ID at the polls, those who received a mail-in ballot but decided to vote in person or those that voted in the wrong polling place if their county did not use voting centers.

(3,490 posts)45,856 and 50,722 votes remaining to be counted depending on which site you're looking at. Joe's lead is 13,582. 90% of the votes remaining are in Maricopa and Pima counties. Unless, there's something out of the ordinary, this should be about a 50-50 split. Still too close to call.
