This seems hypocritical to me. There are plenty of talented people. It would be
better for him to find work in the private sector.

Even though Trump has been doing this for his entire term - I don't think it is a good idea if the suggestion is that he will be appointed to a position equivalent to Trump's children.

Since Dr. Biden plans to continue teaching - the role traditionally filled by the first lady might be open. (And anyone who suggests that a role traditionally filled by a female spouse or child is beneath Emhoff is itching for a fight since it has been filled by the likes of Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama, who each have equivalent credentials.)

As far as I can see, there is not any hint that this his role will be anything other than second spouse. That's like saying Mother's role is nepotism.

I don't see why Second Gentleman cannot have some kind of formal role of that type. My issue with the Trump family was their utter lack of qualification.

When I follow the link, I get only the one sentence you've posted, with no additional information.

I've noticed this also on other links to "Political Wire" that have been posted in the past...there's never any further information.

Is it [my] Operator Error?

so I had to click on a link (your OP) to then again click on another link (AP) to get to a very long article through which to search for the one sentence you posted. It took a whole lot of reading to find that one sentence in that very long article to which your headline refers. That portion of the linked article was only four paragraphs and, according to forum rules, could have been posted in its entirety from the beginning.

To save others from the same fate:

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, will leave his job as a partner with a high-profile law firm to focus on his role in the new Biden administration.

A campaign spokeswoman said Tuesday that Emhoff will sever ties with DLA Piper by Inauguration Day. Emhoff took a leave of absence from the firm in August, when Harris was named Joe Biden’s running mate. Biden and Harris will be inaugurated Jan. 20.

While Emhoff is not a lobbyist, the firm has lobbied the federal government on behalf of a range of corporate clients. Ethics experts say that connection could have presented an appearance of conflicts of interest as the Biden administration tries to restore trust and ethics in government following President Donald Trump’s norm-shattering presidency.

Emhoff is working with the transition team to determine the issues he will take on as the vice presidential spouse. He is the first man to hold that role, as Harris is the nation’s first female vice president.

...and I guess that's why I dislike "Political Wire" as a source.

I pay them too but want to give them the traffic so they can thrive and then DU can by promoting really interesting and timely ideas or events. It is all thought through. If it bugs you the political wire as a source is always given at the top of the links i post in the link and as Taegan Goddard so you can see it and skip it.

Would you consider posting more than just the one sentence (as I did) so that we don't have to go through the hunt to find the context related to your headline? That article went on forever - paragraph after paragraph - before reaching the small segment you referenced which I was interested in reading.

Thanks.
