One senior Republican official told The Post: What is the downside for humoring him for this little bit of time? No one seriously thinks the results will change. It is hard to imagine a better encapsulation of how feckless and dangerous the Republican Party has become. Whats the downside? Only the undermining of our democracy.
Many countries have elections. But only in functioning democracies do losers recognize the result and transfer power to the winners. Graceful concessions by losing candidates constitute a sort of glue that holds the polity together, providing a cohesion that is lacking in less-well-established democracies, writes Shaun Bowler, a political scientist who is a co-author of Losers Consent: Elections and Democratic Legitimacy.

(18,402 posts)No access to funds from the government for transition
No access to office space that is supposed to be given
Most important, no access that is needed to agencies, and especially to classified data
This truly hampers a successful transition

Im not worried about the transition.
Biden and his people could take off from a dead stop on Jan 20 and have a more effective and informed govt by Feb than Trump ever had.

Pennsylvania Republicans plan 'extraordinary measures' to delay election results
Republicans in the Pennsylvania state legislature on Tuesday said they would take extraordinary measures to find out whether the election in their state was fair, despite having no evidence of any wrongdoing. State Rep. Dawn Keefer, a Republican from York County, announced that Republicans in the state legislature would move to conduct an audit of the election, and that the state should not certify the election results, or select electors to the Electoral College, until it is completed.
I remember a lot of people (including me) who didn't take Trump seriously in 2016. There were too many republican challengers and he's a clown. One of them would take him out. But we know what happened. There is a risk in not taking him seriously because the whole fucking republican party ends up kowtowing to him.

Unfortunately, a lot of parents think, Oh how bad can it be if I give in and buy him the candy/toy/whatever? You give in and the kid know he's got you. And refusing the next time will be exponentially harder.
