Now the heat is such they want to get out of the kitchen.

[Other JD practice groups have reasons to be furious. Some big fish may jump, to another firm, with a kit of talent assets].

that drives me bonkers, lol

and when people do not trim the url on pics (so there is part of the URL jacked up next to the pic)

and

when people use the 'link' button to post a url

like

[link:http://|https://www.jonesday.com/en/news/2020/11/jones-day-statement-regarding-election-litigation]

when all you have to do is to cut n' paste directly into the text field

How to get it to display:

Original link was https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Emf2jf6UYAAOsgc?format=jpg
Working link: https: //pbs.twimg.com/media/Emf2jf6UYAAOsgc.jpg (I added a space after https: to stop it rendering as a .jpg)

So you just delete ?format=jpg and add .jpg in its place. Same idea works for Twitter pic links.

They're pursuing the litigation to overturn the PA decision extending the date for receiving mail in ballots.

Don't be fooled. They absolutely have not abandoned Trump. They're doing his work in the guise of representing the party, not him.

They want the US Supreme Court to rule that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court acted unconstitutionally when they ruled that ballots postmarked on or before election day but received after 8 pm on election day should be counted.

More generally, they want to establish as precedent that the US Supreme Court can sit in judgment of state court decisions interpreting state election law.

You know who else wants that result? You know why?

21. Not exactly.

The question is an interpretation of the US consititution

Clause 2. Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress; but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

Specifically, does "Legislature" mean the state legislature exclusively, or the state legislature as interpreted by the state courts. The claim is that the PA Legislature (the body charged with setting out the manner electors are chosen) expressly rejected the possibility of extending the deadline. The courts (not the Legislature) extended the deadline for 3 days.

So it has nothing to do with whether the Supreme Court can sit in judgement of state court decisions, but whether the details of choosing the electors (allocated by the constitution to the state Legislature) can be altered by the state courts.

17. Inside the Lincoln Project's new campaign targeting Trump's law firm

The Lincoln Project is kicking butt here.

“These people have now decided that attempting to undermine the outcome of a just and fair election is perfectly acceptable for their legal practices,” Rick Wilson, a GOP strategist and co-founder of the Lincoln Project, told me, in a reference to Jones Day and other firms representing Trump and the GOP.

Wilson said the Lincoln Project will “bring a light on that,” noting that such efforts help Trump in “waging lawfare against the American people.” Jones Day represents The Washington Post on labor and employment law matters.

This new campaign is a reminder that Trump’s efforts to overturn the results rely heavily on the complicity of many other actors — and that aggressive efforts will be needed to hold them accountable for it.

The campaign also raises interesting possibilities involving the future of Never-Trump Republicans, about whether they’ll keep battling against GOP voter suppression and for revitalized democracy once Trump is gone.
