(7,429 posts)Trump leads with a presumption of infallibility. He can never be wrong, he always tells the truth. He's the leader of white supremacy movements. He was chosen by God to lead this nation out of a mixed race rule. Diversity, to Trumpers, is what's destroying the nation. And Trump will save all of them from certain ruin.
In other words, Trump leads a faction of the population that wants white rule, and wants non-whites segregated into second class status. One of the facets of emerging fascism is the ability of its leaders to use a network of lies to dull the edges of murderous intent so that their rule becomes more palatable to those more prone to equivocate, to those willing to tolerate the removal of civil liberties for those who aren't white for the promised stability and economic fortune that comes with being a privileged "race" of white descendants.
What is utterly stunning is that so many millions do not understand that there is nothing inherently special about being white. It's all made up so that those who want power over others can obtain it. It's always been a ploy, a lie, that nazi Germany employed to near-perfection. But a lie nonetheless. The mystique of white supremacy must be elevated to the level of a religion for all of it to work. White supremacy must be an article of faith for white power leaders to bully their way into authoritative positions. That's how fascism works.

(275 posts)it's been flooding Europe and other regions as well. During Nazi time, there was no social media to tell lies. This is spreading like wildfire around the globe - and easily manipulating people to that viewpoint - white privilege is superior, whites should not be denied their superior rights, and should be above all others. How do you stop this social media lying revolution?

(81,126 posts)Dear God! We HAVE TO do something about the GOP/CON message machinery. Pox Noise and hate radio.
Re-regulation is one way. Ownership restrictions - to reinstate. The Fairness Doctrine to restore.
At one time this country supposedly rejected corporate monopolies and broke them up. Theodore Roosevelt was even hailed as the Trust Buster. I remember an assignment in grade school history class, where my answer was to draw a cartoon of The Trust Buster. I drew him punching out a big placard that had TRUSTS written on it.

(275 posts)and it was going to go away. Then he got it, and suddenly, it's real, not a democratic hoax. With this news, why can't his followers question that it was a hoax, and now it's real, and logically theorize that it was lie initially - should i believe Drumpf - should be the logical question and additional questions should arise. But no, logic is thrown out the window.

(9,760 posts)They do not respond to or even grasp logical argument. And, as they'll insist--you can't make them!
They just want to believe what they believe. I saw this belligerent ignorance growing over the years in my classroom. Increasingly students would reject conclusive, logical, legitimate argument saying that they were entitled to their "opinion."
Explanations that "opinions" were reserved for subjective issues, such as what flavor ice cream was tastiest, the bestvstyle of architecture or the greatest song ever written, were taken on board at first, but less & less so over the years.
Over time, the parents began to make complaints that their children's freedoms were being violated by teachers trying to force the children to reason.
It was so distressing because many of us just knew it was leading to Trumpusm & Trump, though, obviously not by that name.
I'd like the people blaming "the education system" for this lack of logical thinking skills to understand this. The parents control the education system. And the worst ones are always the most vocal agitators. Remind you of anyone?
