"Those 71 million fellow Americans are now registered racists."

The truth has never been more obvious, yet people still insist there is something else involved. No, no there isn't.

"The apologists love to counter that not all white Trump voters are racists or white supremacists. But that’s semantics. Whether someone identifies as a white supremacist or calls themselves something else but justifies support of white supremacists, they still belong to a group who, if they had it their way, would rather see me and my peoples shackled, stooped in servitude, or buried.

Back in 2016, people could claim they didn’t know the depths of his
supremacist feelings. But now? Those 71 million fellow Americans are now
registered racists."

so presumably he was maxed out on enthusiasm. how could enthusiasm in 2020 reach to people who didn't vote for him in 2016?

since then, the percent of people self-identifying as republicans has dropped

since then, he lost many people due to his extremism and incompetence (lincoln project types, people for whom covid-incompetence was the last straw, etc.)

there are new voters every cycle, of course, but the vast majority of them went for biden.

a lot of the efforts to suppress the vote of democrats has been discussed in the open, but i rather think they must be somehow stuffing the ballot boxes in republican areas as well. i'm sure they would if they could, but i don't know the mechanism. other than that while voter suppression can be discussed in the open (they need to pass voter id laws for that), goosing the numbers for republicans is inherently clandestine stuff.

bigger population and easier main-in voting (even though he discouraged its use). those factors made the total number of voters increase, and i think both parties benefitted from these effects.

democratic voters, who had been suppressed, took this election a lot more seriously than 2016, and therefore out numbers really went up. it's hard to see anything comparable on the republican side.

i heard they did slightly better among white women and evangelicals, though those numbers can't have been huge on a percentage basis and certainly wouldn't seem to make up for all the losses across other groups.

again, the russian efforts that we know about seemed to be mostly on the democratic suppression side. to the extent we overcame that this time, you would expect that to help democrats far more than republicans.

then again, suppression efforts hurt total republican numbers as well. if in 2016 they suppressed an area that was 70% democratic but that suppression wasn't repeated in 2020, then the 30% that was republican would be added to the count this time. so i suppose there's that, though you wouldn't think the election would have been as close as it was....

Now we know why shithole was so against mail in ballots . . ..

and why his puppet dejoy sabotaged the post office, and the republicans remain silent.

Remember Mitch had a hissy fit and would not fund any election security work for the
2020 elections including the machines. I might be wrong but 2020 tells us once again
we have to win in a landslide just to squeek out a win.

In many cases the early vote in 2020 (and Florida 2016) should have put many of the
races almost a done deal but still we lost a # of races.

The GOP knows that the demographic changes and societal wants should put them into
the dustbin of history so they rig elections and pack the courts.

Some people just don't care about race relations. Just doesn't have any direct relevance to their lives. Calling anyone who voted against us a racist isn't a good look.

I mean Trump fucking gained with Hispanics. Are those voters racist against themselves?

Not saying there aren't a lot of genuinely racist trumpsters, there's probably tens of millions of them. It's just not all of them by any means - it's not a binary issue.

Racism is the most conspicuous piece.

If you are Cuban, and voted for Trump, you are endorsing racism against those "others:" Mexicans, African Americans, Asian Americans, etc.
