Thank you for your service!

(23,926 posts)He served for 5 years, never saw combat, and left the service with the rank of Captain.
Wesley Clark served for 34 years, saw combat n VietNam and Kosovo, received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in battle, along with the CIB, a Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry in action, and a host of other awards and commendations. He retired as a Four Star General.
I think I'll go with Wes on this one.
#1 at West Point and only made Captain? What a frickin loser!

(6,150 posts)Pompeo needed to be in the Army at least 10 years to be eligible for promotion to Major, and at least 2 years as a Captain.
He was only half way there.
The idea is to encourage officers to make a career of it. Obviously he didn't want that.

(4,927 posts)and Major not that long after. One interesting thing is that he was once posted as I.G. and had just recently been promoted to Lt. Colonel.

(651 posts)On the taxpayer's dime then bail on the investment WE made on that poor excuse of a human being. Pompeo is a fat fuck clown. He has the face you would just love to smack to get that grin off his face.

I am very good at Clue.
Shitler did it with twitter in the White house?

(63,221 posts)Just goes to show you that some people can be absolutely brilliant, yet so incredible stupid at the same time.
Their arrogance did them in, and that is the same thing that is going to do most of these people in as well.

(11,682 posts)Pompeo is saying stuff Trump wants to hear about retaining power into to his next term (prison is the next term).

Pompeo never commanded. In that era he would have made CPT year 3 and commanded something (maybe not a Cav Troop [company]) and still get out in 5 years. There must have been a reason
Brother Buzz
(36,386 posts)knew he was going to be passed over on his promotion to Major, and all that Field Officer leadership shit was never going to happen.
Still, commanding a maintenance unit is pretty heady. Hell, our Battalion maintenance officer was a Warrant Officer. Mr. Drake could resolve any problem, and commanded respect because he didn't shit on the troops unless it was totally warranted. I bet Pompeo's troops considered fragging his ass more than once.

I was happy that she never realized that DT became president. (She had dementia at the end).

(296,873 posts)Couldn't carry Clarks bags.
Clark came under fire in Vietnam, got shot 4 times and still commanded the counter attack to defeat the enemy force. Then, returned to service and ended up as Supreme Allied Commander of NATO forces in Kosovo.
In was a Rhodes Scholar and White House Fellow.
There are very few people whose military careers compare to Clarks.

If Wes doesn't want a full time gig he would make an excellent special envoy for any number of missions.
