Mississippi Republican calls for his state to "succeed" from the Union after Biden victory

As the dust settles from the 2020 presidential election, one disappointed Mississippi lawmaker has a proposition for the Magnolia State. Instead of being governed by President-elect Joe Biden, state Rep. Price Wallace (R) reportedly said on Twitter that Mississippi should “succeed” from the rest of the United States and form its own country.

Despite the misspelling, his since-deleted tweet on Saturday afternoon, posted hours after the election was called for Biden, appeared to be an overt throwback to the Confederacy — in a part of the Deep South that only voted to remove the Confederate battle flag symbol from its own state flag earlier this year.

Per wallet hub, they are #4 in state government dependence on federal dollars.
#6 in residents' dependence.
In that first category, only Wyoming, Montana, & Louisiana were higher.
They secede, they're in bankruptcy in 3 years

As it is right now, Mississippi's quality of life stats, e.g. life expectancy, infant mortality, already rival that of poor developing nations.

Then we can build a wall around them and not acknowledge their fake currency or government.

They can pull themselves up by their own damn bootstraps.

I can understand why Mississippi is pretty much at the bottom of everything.

They’re dead last in everything, including and especially literacy.

So go ahead, Mississippi, ‘succeed’, and good riddance.

But, I think Mr. Price (R) is a fool and can't find a majority of the population to join-in with him.

Yes, that was a mean-spirited joke that doesn't necessarily tell the truth about Mississippi's ranking in the country for things like healthcare, education, etc..

Or it was simply a joke meant to offend only those calling for secession.

I'm a native Georgian living in Louisiana. It's not as if I'm competing for "best" red state. Because, damn. (though Georgia is trending blue)

Disclaimers spoil a joke.

Sigh.

Moving on now.
