This is going to be interesting to watch regardless.

(53,026 posts)I don't think they'll respond well to a bunch of yankees calling into their state or otherwise telling them how to vote.

(53,026 posts)GOTV means getting out the vote. Now in the era of money is everything, the link goes to Actblue and has nothing to do with GOTV. I have, however, been recruited to make calls, since I spent so much time volunteering for the general election. I won't be doing that for Georgia because of the carpetbagger effect.
As for money, you give if you want. I'm done with that. The party was swimming in money, and they still lost most down ballot races. Money doesn't win elections anymore. GOTV--I mean actually turning out the vote--does, but Southerners don't like carpetbaggers, so I'm staying out of it. I know most people don't actually do anything except give money, but if there were large numbers of Northerners calling into Georgia or going into Georgia, that could very well backfire. I hope someone in charge of things is thinking about that.
If people don't want to discuss getting out the vote, they shouldn't label things GOTV.

(89,244 posts)while Beto ended up losing it was VERY close in a very red state . He ended up doing better than polls had him because of GOTV .
I remember people being upset that Beto said something like this is about Texas when asked about Obama and about Obama not doing some publc endorsement. But it's something both of them knew was the best thing to win that seat.
